SLY was born from a passion for adventure and a simple yet essential need: to eat well, with the very best for the body… and the planet.

Epicurean and adventurer at heart, Sylvain Karpinski couldn’t find freeze-dried meals that met his expectations during his expeditions. Refusing to settle for bland, unbalanced options, he began crafting his own recipes — gourmet, plant-based, and nutritious meals, designed to hold up in the most demanding conditions.

Back on solid ground, he decided to share them with the world. And so SLY was born, a line of savory, practical, long-lasting, and 100% plant-based freeze-dried meals, made to fuel both weekend adventurers and extreme explorers.

Founder of GUSTA (a well-known Canadian brand of vegan sausages and cheeses) and a committed vegan for nearly 20 years, Sylvain brings a deep expertise in plant-based nutrition and bold expeditions. His inspiration comes from his own adventures: an 18,000 km cycling journey across the Americas, packrafting expeditions on Canada’s nicest whitewater rivers, and two solo offshore racing seasons across the Atlantic.

SLY is built on the belief that a good meal can make all the difference. Even in the middle of nowhere, you deserve to eat well.
The name SLY is inspired by the little fox in our logo — a visual nod to the mountains, the sea, and a sailboat. It captures the crafty and purposeful spirit behind our meals.
And, incidentally, it also happens to be the nickname a few close friends give to Sylvain, our founder.
