DESCRIPTION
This classic dish is sure to bring joy to the young and young at heart alike! It is made combining sweet corn kernels, creamy mashed potatoes and lean ground beef cooked to perfection. If you can’t eat shepherd’s pie without a dab of ketchup, included for your convenience are two packets of Heinz 57 ketchup inside the pouch.

Shepherd’s pie is a cult dish in French Canadian cuisine where it is commonly described as « steak, corn, potatoes .» This gluten-free, freeze-dried Happy Yak meal respects the tradition of layering the ingredients.

Its origin is still the subject of great mystery. Despite all the research studies and writings, Shepherd’s pie is similar to French, Scottish and British Cottage or Shepherd’s Pie. It is said that in Canada it originated during the construction of the pan-Canadian railway when few ingredients were available.
Beef
Standard Preparation
Remove potato pouch and ketchup. Combine the cold water (200 ml/serving) and the beef preparation. Mix well. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Reduce heat and simmer for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cover, remove from heat and let stand for 10 minutes.
With Insulating Pan Cover
Simmer 2 minutes on low heat, stirring often. Cover, remove from heat and let stand for 12-15 minutes, stirring once or twice.
Potatoes
Add boiling water (175-200 ml/portion) to potatoes. Mix well. Let stand for 2 minutes. Assemble in layers and serve with ketchup!
EXPRESS Preparation
Remove potato pouch and ketchup. Mix the potato with the beef mix. Add boiling water (about 375 ml/serving) to the bag. Mix well. Close lid. Let stand about 12-15 minutes (stir once during this time or shake the bag).
